How to generate traffic for your website?

The aim of SEO is obviously to get qualified traffic, but it is not the only method. When starting a new site in a competitive sector, getting into the top results can take a long time. It may therefore be worthwhile to implement other techniques to drive traffic to your site. Even if the traffic coming from natural results must remain the majority (on average 1 visitor out of 2 comes from a search engine), these complementary webmarketing techniques must be taken into account.

Here are the most used webmarketing techniques:

Google AdWords
This is Google’s advertising network, which allows you to have your site appear in the sponsored part of the results on the first page. You pay for every click generated. You decide how much you are willing to pay per click: the higher the price you pay, the higher your ad appears in the list of ads. This can range from one euro cent to several dozen euros, depending on the competition for the keyword.

An Adwords campaign can be interesting in several cases: to position yourself quickly, to compensate for a poor position in the natural results, to position yourself on a very competitive query, to position yourself on an event-driven or seasonal query, etc.

Content marketing
This means writing articles on a subject related to your site, and publishing them on free article sites, on participatory blogs, on blogs that accept guest blogging. Your articles have a signature, in which you can indicate a link to your site. This allows you to make your site known, to obtain visits and backlinks.

Social networks
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Scoop.it, Google+… Social networks have become essential tools for promoting websites. Many companies have their own dedicated pages on these networks. It is a significant source of traffic, especially for news sites that regularly create content (content to be relayed on social networks).

Social media
YouTube has become an ideal web marketing platform for viral marketing, i.e. marketing that is spread by users, focusing on buzz (e.g. a humorous video, a punchline, etc.). In addition to being a source of traffic, Youtube, for highly viewed videos, can also be a source of revenue from advertising.

Forums
They can be used in 2 ways: to get new links (some sites allow you to put in your signature url) and visits. For example, if you have an insurance brokerage company, you can go to forums on this subject and answer questions from Internet users (while discreetly promoting your company).
